
Capstone Project
The purpose of the Senior Capstone Project is for students to explore a career field of their choice in depth and is a requirement for students to graduate. The students are expected to collaborate with their mentor(s) and meet the following criteria:
· Project Proposal
· Research Paper
· Project Creation
· Defense and Presentation
Project Proposal Expectations
Pre-Proposal Topic Brainstorming/Selection, Pre-Proposal Core Question, Minor Literature Review, Service Learning Component
The following are required documents:
1. T-STEM Project Proposal
2. Preliminary Task List/Timeline
Research Paper Expectations
Bi-Weekly Reflective Journal Entries àResearch Paper
The research paper must be written in APA or MLA formatting and must include the following:
Project Creation Expectations
During this phase, students are responsible for creating a project and keeping documentation of the entire process. The following is required documentation during this process:
- Bi-Weekly Reflective Journal Entries and Product, System, or Event Development/Creation
Students may choose from one of the following for the project:
- Development/Creation of product, service, or system
- Development/Creation of improvement to a system
- Planning and organizing an event or activity
Defense and Presentation
The final phase of the Senior Capstone Project is to present and defend the project to a panel of experts. The student should share how the idea was decided on, the research, design, production, reflection, and the conclusions that were drawn from the project. The students are then responsible for showcasing their project to the community at a campus event (T-STEM Senior Capstone Banquet).
